woodblock print, signature trimmed off this impression, circa 1768-69; two collector's seals of Henri Vever, framed 


Vertical chuban:

26.5 x 18.6 cm., 10⅜ x 7½ in. (the print)

47 x 39 cm., 18½ x 15⅜ in. (the frame)

A young woman in a room adjusts her hair using two mirrors, whilst her lover attempts to tickle her foot from behind a sliding door (shoji) with a stick. A cat appears about to pounce, excited by the movement of the stick. 


Other museum examples of this print bear the signature Harunobu ga (Pictured by Harunobu) to the left of the mirror stand. The left edge if the present lot has been trimmed including the area where the signature would be.
