Description

Freddie Mercury’s A Day At The Races promo jacket

A white ‘Polythylene’ zip-up jacket with black knitted collar and cuffs, the front left printed with black lettering 'Queen A Day At The Races' and a symbol of a finishing post, the reverse printed with a black and white design of three race horses galloping through a large green letter Q, labelled ‘Socreco Adjaks’ [1976]

On 16 October, 1976, Queen and their manager John Reid laid on a lavish launch party for the press to promote their forthcoming album at Kempton Park racecourse at Sunbury-on-Thames. EMI sponsored a special race called the ‘Day At The Races Hurdle’ and each member of the band backed the same winning horse without telling each other.
