A silver-plated desk model of the Santa Maria


one of Christopher Columbus's three ships of the Discovery of the Western Ocean 1492, with a commemorative plaque, on a mahogany base


length 19cm., 7½in.

In an evocative interview, conducted by RTVE in 1987 Freddie is interviewed with Montserrat Caballé about their collaboration and the legendry song they sang together, Barcelona. The interview culminates with each receiving a gift from the television station, the present lot was Freddie's. The piece was conceived by Professor José María Martínez-Hidalgo y Terán, who was the Director of the Spanish Maritime Museum.
