The Reference 4224 was produced during the 1970’s, most probably between 1974 and 1978 only.
The watch was available either on a leather strap or on different kinds of gold bracelet, such as on the present lot. While the number of pieces produced is not known, the short period of production combined with the coper/burgundy colour of the strap and the intricate gold bracelet make this piece a very rare bird.
Most of the Tank Americaine were powered by a quartz movement. However, this piece is fitted with an automatic movement with central seconds and date indication, making it an attractive exception for collectors.
