Gallet is one of the oldest watch companies in the world, with a history dating back to 1466 when its founder Humbertus Gallet became citizen of Geneva.
In the 20th century, Gallet was particularly recognized for their chronograph watches. They introduced the first water resistant case for chronograph with the Clamshell case, patented in 1937.
This example is typical of the production of the first part of the 20th century with a silvered dial, contrasting réhaut, red snail scale and luminescent numerals and leaf hands.
Its shape is particular, while less noticeable from the front, the back clearly shows that it is not round but rather oval with cut sides.
This piece would be the perfect acquisition for a collector looking for a charming vintage chronograph.
