Alain Silberstein holds a unique place in the watchmaking universe. The French “architecte horloger” started his eponymous company in the late 1980’s. He had at heart to create colourful pieces, breaking the established aesthetical codes to introduce a style radically different. His creations know no equivalent. While today his watches are lesser known by the wider audience, they still hold a special place in collector’s heart. Demonstrating his importance and influential power, the last couple of years saw successful collaborations between Silberstein and brands such as MB&F, Ressence, Bell & Ross or Louis Erard. Still, many consider that the recognition he rightly deserves has yet to come.
The present Caravan, made as a limited edition of 500 pieces embodies the whimsiness and creativity of this free spirit. Using signature primary colours, red, yellow and blue, he designed this highly unusual piece combining two cases, one for the main time with three hands and the indications of days and date, and a second one to display a second time zone.
