The Rolex Cellini collection was first introduced in the 1960’s. Its name comes from the 16th century Italian sculptor and goldsmith Benvenuto Cellini. This line of watches was made with the purpose of offering refined and elegant timepieces using precious metals and sometimes gemstones. It was a radically different production to the Oyster collections.
In 2014, Rolex presented in Baselworld a totally new design for the Cellini. Three models were introduced. The present 50525 was the most complicated reference. In addition to the three central hands, the watch is also equipped with a dual time indication located at 6 o’clock. It is completed by the day/night indication at 9 o’clock in the subsidiary dial, which rotates to either show the sun or the moon.
The 50525 is crafted in Everose gold and, while some Rolex characteristics can still be identified, it offers a great alternative for someone looking for the quality of the brand but in a dressier form.
