This piece is a charming example of the typical production of Vacheron Constantin at the middle of the 20th century.

These triple calendar were made using the same layout with a double aperture above the center, with a date indication on the outside of the dial, usually in a contrasting tone for the track, that would be indicated by a central hand, applied indexes and with or without the moon-phase indication.

The cases normally had the multi steps band and fancy lugs. The highest attention was paid to each details of the watch. As an example and like on the present lot, the main case and one of the lugs had the two last digits of the caseback number engraved to make sure the watchmaker would fit together the different parts that were made for that watch.

These pieces are among the most collectible vintage Vacheron Constantin and are a collectors favourite. Their 36mm case diameter also makes them as easy and elegant to wear today as it was the case nearly 80 years ago.
