The present lot featured in George Gordon, Cartier. A century of Cartier Wristwatches (Hong Kong: Timeless Elegance Co. Ltd., 1989), 242.

In the early years, Cartier London primarily acted as a retailer of watches sourced from Paris and Switzerland instead of producing their own timepieces. This changed in the mid 1960s when Jean-Jacques Cartier gave impulse to the artistic impulses of the 1960s and began the manufacturing of their own watches in their London atelier.

Cased in yellow gold and featuring a daring yet classic design, the present lot charmingly illustrates the magnetism of the French Maison and the creative impulses of its London branch.
