Gérald Genta

Gerald Genta's legacy is indelibly linked to some of horology's most iconic timepieces, including Patek Philippe's Golden Ellipse and Nautilus, Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak, Omega's Constellation, IWC's Ingenieur, and Cartier's Pasha models. Born in Geneva in 1931, Genta earned his Swiss diploma in jewelry design and goldsmith training, laying the foundation for his illustrious career. In the mid-eighties, Genta not only gained recognition as an exceptionally gifted designer but also emerged as an audacious independent brand, challenging conventions and forging new paths in the watchmaking realm. The 1990s saw him extend his prowess beyond designs, exploring innovative case materials and introducing groundbreaking complications.

Bulgari recognized Genta's unparalleled talent and acquired his eponymous brand in 1999, instantly elevating their watch business to new heights. Renowned for his octagonal designs, Genta's heritage was honored by introducing the 'Octo' series in 2004. This collection featured a range of complications, with certain models, like the one presented here with a perpetual calendar, embodying the pinnacle of craftsmanship. The 'Octo' series laid the foundation for the Octo Finissimo,  which would later be produced under Bulgari and was an instant success.

Remembered as a true luminary in watchmaking, Genta's designs endure as icons, continuing to inspire and shape the evolution of the watch industry.
