With a classic allure, the Patek Philippe ref. 5940 was launched in 2012, replacing its predecessor ref. 5040. Featured in the launch metal of yellow gold, which was discontinued shortly after in 2016, the present watch is part of a limited suite of attractive yellow gold models made by Patek. The watch is distinguished by a thin cushion-shaped case and a dial featuring Breguet numerals, which were inspired by the rare vintage watches Patek produced in the 1920s and 30s. The present reference is one of only two non-round perpetual calendars from the House of Patek (the other being the earlier ref. 5040) and features the same automatic movement, Cal. 240, as the iconic ref. 3940 and Nautilus ref. 5740G.
37 mm in diameter, the present lot is in excellent condition with its original accessories including the Certificate of Origin, booklets and product literature, leather bifold, setting pin, and service box.
