Description

Set with a circular-cut diamond weighing 1.93 carats, within a surround of baguette diamonds, size N.

From the collection belonging to Daisy Hyams, OBE, who was the first female main board director of a P.L.C. (Tesco’s) in the United Kingdom.

From the collection of the late Daisy Hyams OBE (1912 - 1996).

Daisy was the first female in the UK on the board of directors of Tesco, and spent over fifty years working for them - which to date remains their longest serving employee. Her career began at the age of 18, initially employed as founder Sir John Cohen's secretary and right hand man (in this case girl). Later she became Tesco’s chief buyer, directing the purchasing department, and at the height of her career in the 1970s became one of the most powerful figures in British retailing. Throughout her career, she grew to be a key part of the Tesco success story and was hugely influential in their phenomenal growth. In addition to building up the store empire and travelling the world as their buyer, she was on various government committees and throughout her life amassed an impressive and varied collection of jewellery.
