8vo. Half-title, 16 plates by Sidney Paget, 4 pages of advertisements at end, bookplate of James Foster Hasbrouck to pastedown. Publisher's blue cloth, littered in gilt, spine gilt; very minor wear to edges. Collector's quarter morocco slipcase, red cloth chemise.


A fine copy of the first edition.


The first collection of Holmes short stories to be published since 1893, the London edition was published in March 1905 and the New York edition in February.
