Description
NIKE, NIKE DUNK LOW PRO PREMIUM, SIZE 10.5
Rubber, Leather, Cotton
2002
Commonly referred to as the ‘Undefeated Splatter,’ the ‘Splatter’ Dunk Low was once rumored to have been a collaboration with Los Angeles-based brand Undefeated. However, as outlined by ArchiveDNA/Patta, Jesse Leyva, the former Global Design Director of Nike Sportswear, designed this unique colorway for Metro.Pop, a fashion print magazine from Los Angeles.
Under Leyva's direction, Nike produced some of their most iconic and important collaborative designs, solidifying relationships with partners like Undefeated, Stussy, and KAWS. These extremely rare sneakers, all of which were produced as samples, are said to have a limited production of only 24 pairs. Leyva revealed in recent years to Complex that only samples were made of this model, due to the lack of retailers interested in carrying the style.
The pair features a mahogany upper, paired with a Storm Pink Swoosh and Iron panels. Splatters of blue paint contrasted with the mahogany panels make the design stand out. With displays on the feet of Travis Scott, and a market cognizant of their rarity in deadstock condition with their original sample box, this pair remains a highly coveted and largely unavailable model.
