Poul Kjaerholm’s PK 80 Daybed is among one of his most coveted models, combining sleek design with seamless construction. The sophisticated form showcases the designer’s talent in refining works to their pure essence. Kjaerholm produced several iterations of the daybed, including a square variant for commissions he received from Denmark’s National Museum and the Danish Museum of Applied Arts. The present example, possibly unique, was made to order for an architect who wanted a slightly wider version of the form (108 cm instead of the standard 80 cm). E. Kold Christensen received permission from Kjaerholm himself to execute it this way.
