Collection of Francis Egerton and Peter Maitland, sold Sotheby's London, 28 April 2010, lot 705

This table formed part of the private collection of Francis Egerton, chairman of Mallett & Sons antiques during the postwar years which saw the transformation of the originally Bath-based antique dealers into an internationally renowned London gallery. Upon his death the collection was inherited by Mallett's chief executive Peter Maitland, who lived with it at Abbey House, a 16th century Tudor manor in Witchampton, Dorset.
