Born in 1935, Mel Ramos is an American artist known for his figurative paintings of female nudes. Inspired by popular culture, he draws upon the physique of certain celebrities, and associates their image to consumer products.

The work entitled Fille, created in 2014, attests to this obsession with the female figure. The subject is represented on a green background highlighting the contours of her opulent figure. Her partially revealed body, is simultaneously concealed by a rectangular shape that seems to disappear into the background. This obstacle to the gaze arouses the curiosity of the observer. The latter is in turn hypnotized by the subject.

As well as being at the heart of numerous exhibitions dedicated to the Pop movement, Ramos' works have also appeared in a catalog published by the famous magazine Playboy, thus reinforcing the erotic scope of these images.

Né en 1935, Mel Ramos est un artiste américain réputé pour ses peintures figuratives représentant des nus féminins. Puisant dans la culture populaire, ce dernier s’approprie la silhouette de certaines célébrités qu’il remanie et qu’il met en relation avec des produits de consommation.

L’œuvre intitulée Fille, réalisée en 2014 atteste de cette obsession pour la figure féminine. Cette dernière est représentée sur un fond vert faisant ressortir les contours de sa silhouette opulente. La figure dont le corps est partiellement révélé, est à la fois dissimulée par une forme rectangulaire qui se fond dans l’arrière-plan. Cet obstacle au regard suscite d’autant plus la curiosité de l’observateur. Ce dernier se trouve à son tour hypnotisé par le sujet.

En plus d’être au cœur de nombreuses expositions dédiées au mouvement Pop, les œuvres de Ramos ont également fait l’objet d’un catalogue édité par le fameux magazine Playboy renforçant ainsi la portée érotique de ces images.
