The present tapestry was based off of a drawing by the 17th century painter, Jacques Stella. Stella worked extensively in Florence under the patronage of Cosimo II de Medici before relocating to Rome. While there, he honed his classical style and developed a friendship with his fellow countryman, Nicolas Poussin.
