For the 2017 Academy Governor’s Awards, Margot Robbie requested an Old Hollywood style gown. Joseph Altuzarra referenced look 46 from his 2017 Fall/Winter collection, inspired by a 1950s dress that featured a prominent bow tied in the front of the waist, and 1930s inspired beading. The customized iteration of the runway look is made in black silk velvet with a silk satin lining. It features an embroidered floral motif throughout the garment, crafted with metal threads and Mother of Pearl sequins.
