A gold, enamel, pearl and diamond-set verge watch

Circa 1790, no. 18321


• Movement: gilded full plate, verge escapement, fusee and chain, decoratively pierced and engraved balance bridge, silver regulation plate, signed and numbered Moricand & Comp., 18321

• Dial: white enamel dial, vertical Roman numerals, outer minute ring with Arabic quarters, diamond-set hands

• Case: the back with polychrome enamel painted allegory of painting, a gentleman and a lady reclining on a garden bench beside a portrait on an easel, front and back bezels set with pearls heightened with diamond settings, plain square pendant numbered to its side 1832[1]

• Chatelaine: of gold ladder-form terminating in a gold, enamel and pearl-set panel one side depicting a reclining female figure in a landscape, the other with translucent blue enamel over a decoratively engraved ground, terminating in pendant chains and a pearl and enamel-set key, enamel decorated fob and a further key
