A gold and enamel urn-shaped verge watch

Circa 1800


• Movement: unsigned gilded full plate, verge escapement, plain flat balance, decoratively pierced and floral engraved balance bridge, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain

• Dial: white enamel, Arabic numerals, outer minute ring, aperture for winding

• Case: gold, damage and restoration to enamel, the front with translucent blue flinqué enamel and gold paillon floral garlands heightened by green enamel leaves, the back decorated en suite and with central polychrome enamel painted courtship scene depicting a gentleman presenting a lady with a birdcage, a dog at their feet, framed by garland-form border, pusher through base to release front bezel
