Description
Robert Frost
Mountain Interval. New York: Henry Holt, 1916
FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO WILFRID GIBSON, 8vo, half-title, original cloth, lacking dust-jacket, slight spotting and marginal dampstaining (not affecting text)
First edition of the author's first collection published in the USA, inscribed by him: "Wilfrid [Wilson Gibson] from Robert, in Philadelphia (whatever that may mean), Jan 1917". Gibson, Frost's close friend and fellow “Dymock Poet”, was a central figure of the Georgian Poets. He was Rupert Brooke's literary executor, the person who first invited Frost to Dymock, and was himself the author of several volumes of war poetry. Frost wrote to an American friend in March 1914: "I have no friend here like Wilfrid Gibson".
