George David Thomas was an American mechanical engineer and diplomat with a professional career spanning over 24 years in Asia, successively in Karachi (1953-1968), Turkey (1968-72) and Afghanistan (1972-1977), this last posting being for the Agency of International Development (A.I.D.) of the United States State Department.
