A Victorian oak letterbox-form stationery box, third quarter 19th century


the octagonal form with later finial loosely inspired by the Penfold letterbox, the front of the hinged door with a brass sign reading LETTERS and a frame containing a later facsimile of a list of postage rates, the interior fitted with pigeonholes, a narrow drawer and two slides with later glass inkpots, on a plinth base 

34.5cm high, 18.5cm. diameter; 1ft. 1 9/16in., 7 1/4in.
