Through subtle manipulation my recent work transforms metal screening paired with driftwood into playful yet benign apparitions. While figurative in nature, the work transcends the human frame both in size and intent. Translucency emphasizes the figure’s absence with an “implied presence” and subtle humor separates expectation from reality through exaggerated scale and altered surfaces. My goal is to redefine the body’s organic shape and maintain an awareness of its form and volume. - Leslie Wilcox, 2023
