Narelle Zeller (b.1978) is an Australian representational artist, best known for her highly detailed portraits and still lifes. Her oil paintings explore the beauty of the human condition and our connection to the natural environment as well as contemporary stories of time and place. Narelle aims to convey an authentic and honest representation of every subject she paints, her process allowing her to slow down and take the time to appreciate every element - inviting the viewer to look closely with her. For example, in this painting, “The Weaving,” which won First Place Still Life in the 16th International ARC Salon, a beautiful bounty of flowers and lace, it is only under closer inspection that the viewer notices that this vivacious arrangement is teeming with spiders. Can you find them all?

Zeller has also won an ARC Purchase award in this same competition with her work “Self-Portrait Painting Flowers.” Her works have also participated in numerous other competitions including ModPortrait, Darling Portrait Prize, International Biennial Portrait Competition, Lester Prize for Portraiture and the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally.
