Mikel Olazabal was born in 1977, after finishing his studies in Basque University, Spain, he studied in the New York Academy of Art, the Art Student League and under Jacob Collins in the Water Street Studio in Brooklyn, NY.


He has received numerous awards in the ARC Salon Competitions over the years, and a first prize in the 2020 (MEAM) European Museum of Modern Art, and Club Wagner International Lohengrin Painting Contests. His work is in the hands of prestigious private collections, such as the Forbes Collection, and he has paintings in the permanent collections of the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM), Barcelona, and the Museo de Armas in Vitoria, Spain. In addition, he has founded the Atelier Madrid, an art academy dedicated to the classic traditional learning process, a place where current and future international talents of painting meet and learn in Spain.


Olazabal’s work can be described as the representation of imagined moments that talk about specific aspects of human endeavors, efforts and wishes that are eternally reenacted through life.
