Attila Pálfalusi belonged to the Hungarian group of artists called ‘industrial designers’ and was one of the repositories of the post-war Hungarian avant-garde. His works were included in the publication Dokumentum 69-70, and in Klaus Groh’ resounding anthology of the time, Aktuelle Kunst in Osteuropa, which set out to inform the Western world about progressive Eastern European creative endeavours.

Following his first solo exhibition in 1968 Pálfalusi isolated himself for thirty years to dedicate himself exclusively to painting. His critical inner mechanism forced him to repaint every pictures he was not entirely satisfied with over and over again. Therefore, under the surface of Pálfalusi’s paintings countless other works are hidden.
