Gemito's powerful bust of Giuseppe Verdi captures the dramatic intensity of the great composer. With stunning simplicity, Gemito has created an image of an introspective genius. Verdi sat for the portrait in 1873, when he, then aged 60, visited Naples to attend performances of his operas.
