The Italian sculptor Cesare Lapini established in the last quarter of the 19th century and specialised in allegorical and genre subjects and models all'Antica, which he sold with great success from his Florence shop to an elite global clientele. The present sensuous marble displays a particularly finely textured surface with exquisitely carved hands.
