CONCEPT OF ARTWORK

I was really excited to be asked to paint a Tiger to mark the Year of the Tiger in 2022. They are truly beautiful, sensuous, magnificent creatures and it is so sad to think they are in danger. I painted my tiger in red and gold which I felt symbolised hope and freedom, abundance and exotica.

ABOUT SUE ARROWSMITH (UK)

Sue Arrowsmith has exhibited widely in the UK and Europe. Solo exhibitions include Entwistle Gallery, London (1997), Galerie Frahm, Copenhagen (1999), Galerie Fahnemann, Berlin (2001), Artist of the Day, Flowers, London and Galerie Hollenbach, Stuttgart, (2004), Galerie allerArt, Blundenz, Austria (2009) and The Courtyard Gallery, Carmarthen (2011). A graduate of Goldsmiths College, London, Arrowsmith's work first attracted critical attention with a series of incredibly sensitive drawings, featuring innumerable, delicately drawn parallel lines that move across the surface of the paper in unnerving proximity. Most recently, Arrowsmith has turned to painting. These paintings offer a sense of the random glimpses that make up our experience of the world. Profoundly self-interrogatory, this is uncompromising work that conveys not only the experience of viewing the world but the experience of assimilating it.
