You could call this an 'Atlantic vintage', i.e. not extreme in temperature and more in the elegant, subtle mode. The whole intensity of Pingus on the nose - coffee and black berries. Really lovely harmony of fruit, acidity and tannin. Old vines (planted in 1949 and 1928) and a real example of 'under-vinifying'. Tremendous length on the palate. The tannins are so ripe and the oak (100% matured in barrels from Darnajou, as is Pomerol's Château Lafleur) is already completely integrated. The mocha finish is terrific. The majority of the collection was purchased 'En Primeur' from UK and local wine merchants. All recently removed from a professional storage in Hong Kong. Property of a gentleman.
