Figures of putti associated with reliefs of battles between sea creatures appear frequently in the oeuvre of Georg Pfründt, who trained in the studio of the celebrated Leonhard Kern (1588-1662), as well as in the works of his followers.

This piece can be compared to another goblet, also attributed to the circle of Pfründt (Dresden, Grünes Gewölbe, inv. no. II 330), as well as to an ivory goblet attributed to Pfründt which was sold at Sotheby’s London on 10 December 2002 (lot 72).

Les associations de figures de putti avec des reliefs de bataille d’animaux marins sont très présentes dans les œuvres de Georg Pfründt, artiste formé dans l’atelier du célèbre Leonhard Kern (1588-1662), ainsi que dans le travail de ses suiveurs.

Cette œuvre peut être rapprochée d’une coupe également attribué à l’entourage de Pfründt (Dresde, Grünes Gewölbe, inv. no. II 330), ainsi que d’une coupe en ivoire attribuée à Pfründt vendue chez Sotheby’s Londres, le 10 décembre 2002 (lot 72).
