Born in 1977 in Kerala, Om Soorya graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts from Kerala University in 2002, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Hyderabad in 2004. He has been granted a number of artist residencies, in Hyderabad, Zurich and Palermo. Soorya's landscapes are reminiscent of the beautiful landscapes of his home in Kerala, as seen in the current lot, a meditative waterscape from 2007.
