the sixty-two plate black lacquered iron bowl with raised ridges, terminating in four-stage copper-gilt tehen kanamono of typical chrysanthemum form, plain black lacquer mabisashi [peak] with copper-gilt fukurin [ornamental border], the large fukigaeshi [turnbacks] in stenciled leather and applied with copper-gilt maru ni tachi omodaka mon [encircled three-leaf arrowhead crests], the shikoro [neck guard] applied with peacock feathers, gilt metal maedate [forecrest] in the form of a further maru ni tachi omodaka mon, gilt metal kuwagata [stylised horns] on a kuwagata-dai fixture, the iron mempo [face mask] forged with high cheek bones, pronounced jaw and open mouth, hinged nose plate, horse bristle moustache, red? lacquer interior, three-tiered lacquered leather yodaregake [throat protector], the do-maru [cuirass that wraps around the body without hinges] comprised of black lacquered honkozane [true lamellae], stenciled leather to the muna-ita [upper section of the cuirass], the kanagu [metal fittings] pierced, chased and engraved with chrysanthemums before foliage, the gyoyo [shoulder strap covers] also in stenciled leather and applied with further maru ni tachi omodaka mon, five-tiered black lacquered honkozane sode [shoulder guards], chainmail kote [sleeves], blue silk brocade lining, seven tassets of five-tiered kusazuri [skirt], the haidate [thigh guards] in black lacquer kiritsuke-kozane [false lamellae] lined with further silk brocade, all components with kebiki odoshi [close-spaced lacing] in green braid, the accompanying purple, white and gold silk hata [flag] decorated with further omodakamon, bishamon style suneate [shin guards], with an armour display stand and armour storage box
