The movement is in working condition at the time of cataloguing. The dial has been re-printed during a service at Patek Philippe but this was done 20 years ago. The dial is still very clean. The case is in very well preserved condition with crisp lugs, great lines and crisp hallmark to the band and underneath the lugs. The case with only the slightest surface wear and the gold is tarnished throughout but this can be easily cleaned. The crown has been replaced during a servicing.

Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense.

Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Manufactured in the late 1940's the present watch represents the aesthetic perfection the firm of Patek Philippe has strived to achieve since the 1900 Universal Exhibition. With the two world wars that followed, watches evolved in the form of wristwatches and fashion was superseded by functionality. The 1925 Exhibition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts and the 1937 Universal Exhibition cemented into society the wristwatch. As a result, beautiful time only wristwatch in all shapes and sizes began to evolve.

This reference 2415, is fitted with a very long case, which is curved and has very fancy sculpted lugs, which mirrors architecture from this period. It is unknown how many were made, when production started or when it ended. What we do know, it is an extremely rare reference with a very elegant case construction and relatively inexpensive considering its age and rarity.
