Description

Antoine Pascal

Collection de fleurs desinées d’après nature et lithographiées. Paris: Clement, [c.1830s]

FIRST EDITION, 4to (340 x 255mm.), engraved title, 48 hand-coloured lithographed plates by Langlumé, red three-quarter morocco gilt by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, edges gilt, occasional light foxing

A RARE COLLECTION OF FLORAL ENGRAVINGS IN THE MANNER OF REDOUTÉ, not traced in the standard bibliographies. Pascal himself is described as a pupil of Redouté on the title-page of this work. The only book we have traced by him is L'Acquarelle, ou les fleurs peintes d'apres la methode de M. Redoute, published in 1836. He lived from 1803 to 1859.
