FIRST EDITION, folio (415 x 260mm.), dedication leaf, list of subscribers, folding engraved map, engraved head-pieces, 30 hand-coloured engraved plates, by Mynde and G. Bickham after G.D. Ehret and others, contemporary calf, some spotting and browning, covers worn and repaired, rebacked


This book "is one to place beside Catesby's Natural History" (Hunt). The zoological and botanical plates are each dedicated to a patron or subscriber: large paper copies were supplied to about a fifth of the thousand or so subscribers to Hughes' project.
