The canvas is unlined and stable on its stretcher. The overall image reads well and is under a clean varnish. There is a large area of craquelure at center, concentrated in the figure's skirt, and a minor impression of the horizontal stretcher bar. Small areas of fine craquelure in upper left quadrant. Two inch diagonal line of craquelure in upper right corner. Under UV light, a small spot of inpainting is visible on the tip of the figure's nose and left corner of her mouth; circa 8 inch long vertical stripe of inpainting on the right side of the figure's skirt. Further retouches on the figure's right hand. Another small area of inpainting at lower center below the figure, which corresponds to a patch on the reverse. The painting can be hung in its current state. Offered in an elaborately carved gilt wood frame with a name plate that reads R. Knight.
