A probably German silver wine-cooler after the model of Meissonier, circa 1900
resting on a spreading foot chiselled with channels, baluster-shaped body, embossed with cartouches with the royal arms of France and two marine scenes representing Venus in a shell chariot drawn by dolphins accompanied by Neptune and tritons, the handles in the form of bifid mermaids supporting dolphins, the interior gilded, engraved below the base Presented by the Members of the L. F.D.C to Mrs. Hastings in sincere recognition of her services to President of the Club since its Organization 1901 - 1906
