Born in Paris, Charles Delhommeau first exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1904 and later at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-arts, of which he became a member in 1932. Observing animals at the Jardin des Plantes, Delhommeau developed an elegant aesthetic which focused on the animals’ flowing lines and vivacity. From 1938 he collaborated with the Sèvres factory on several of his models. The majority of his work was cast by the Leblanc-Barbedienne foundry in limited, high-quality editions.
