One of Belgium’s foremost Animalier sculptors, Thierry van Ryswyck trained at the Antwerp Academy and regularly modelled animals at the Antwerp Zoo, before settling in Paris in the 1930s. He exhibited his work in Paris and beyond, including in Monte Carlo in 1954. Betraying an Art Deco influence, his sculptures are marked by a distinctive decorative elegance.
