signed J Maris lower left

oil on canvas

Unframed: 53.5 by 66cm., 21 by 26in.

Framed: 71 by 84cm., 28 by 33in.

The canvas has had a wax lining and is providing a stable support. There is craquelure visible and a dirty surface. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of retouching, however an opaque varnish obscures further reading.
