with three divisions, the sides with fretwork, the castors stamped COPE'S PATENT

Photographed in the Hall at Newbattle Abbey at the end of the 19th century.
The Elizabethan style employed on the offered lot reflects the decoration that was being undertaken by the 8th Marquess of Lothian at both Newbattle Abbey and Blickling Hall.
