This cityscape of the Fresh Wharf on the north bank of the Thames captures views of the Old London Bridge. It features the spires (from left to right) of Christopher Wren's St. Paul's Cathedral, possibly Nicholas Hawksmoor's St. Michael, Cornhill, and Wren's St. Magnus the Martyr. Underneath the dome of St. Paul's is Fishmongers' Hall, which at this time was Edward Jerman's baroque building dating to 1671 after its predecessor's destruction during the Great Fire of London.
There are two other known versions of this composition. One of these, dated to 1762, is in the Museum of London;1 the other is in The Guildhall Art Gallery, London.2
