The first attribution of this print to Schiavone was made by Zoltan Karpati after drawings by Parmigianino, one of which is at the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart (Inv. No. 1923-6) and the other at Chatsworth (Inv. 797 A). However, this print is in fact an imitation in reverse after the etching by Parmigianino (B. 3).
