A striking moment of grace in Liu Xiaodong’s oeuvre, Young Girl Leisurely Reading (1993) is a tender example of the artist’s approach to Neo-Realism. Young Girl Leisurely Reading wonderfully displays Liu’s painstaking attention to detail, particularly in the girl’s ruffled white blouse and blue ribbon detail, whilst capturing the listless expression that was typical of Liu’s subjects.

創作於1993年的《少女閒讀》畫面瀰漫一片恬靜從容的氣氛，是藝術家劉小東以柔和的手法詮釋新寫實風格的出色例子。劉小東在本作中呈現了不少細節，包括少女的白色襯衫上的荷葉邊及藍色絲帶，而少女無精打采的表情也是劉小東筆下人物的標誌特徵。
