Description
Chalcedony over Chrysocolla
Ray Mine, Dripping Springs Mountains, Pinal County, Arizona, United States
3 by 2 by 1½ inches (7.6 x 5 x 3.8 cm). Custom lucite base.
A specimen of robins-egg blue chrysocolla, with a coating of clear chalcedony.
The chrysocolla—a blue-green mineral with high copper content—is coated in clear chalcedony, resulting in a vivid blue sea of densely saturated hues. The specimen offered here is among the most recognizable mineral specimens from the Ray Mine locality.
