John Barbirolli."), and containing a few erasures and corrections
6 pages, plus blanks, 4to (30.8 x 23.2cm), 16-stave paper, manuscript label to first title ("FS / BA 75"), loose brown-paper wrapper, London, 16 July 1944, light dust-staining, a few tiny stains; together with a set of manuscript parts for the work, in various hands, c.36 pages in all (violin I: 7 parts; violin II: 6 parts; viola: 5 parts; violoncello: 4 parts; bass: 4 parts; harp)
RARE.
This setting of the traditional American folk song dates from the summer of 1944, a year after Barbirolli became permanent conductor of the Hallé Orchestra.
