The present work was commissioned as an advertisement for the Knox Gelatine Company in 1959. The campaign marketed the company’s best-selling product to consumers, including recipes and advertisements that offered dietary advice and nail care. The Knox’s marketing initiative, coined the “Eat and Reduce” plan, proved to be popular with the growing number of health conscious consumers.
